Chris Salter & Alexandre SaunierUS/QC+FR/QC
Chris Salter and Alexandre Saunier's previous collaborations include SNN #0:Totem, an LED light display responding to machine learning and part of the AI: More Than Human exhibition at London's Barbican Centre in 2019; SNN #1: The Speed of Thought Itself, an audiovisual performance at the IMPAKT festival in Utrecht in 2019; and SNN #2: Light/Space/Modulator at the Barcelona BCN_LLUM light festival in 2020.
Chris Salter is an artist, professor, and a co-director of the Hexagram network as well as holding several other research positions. His research focuses on multidisciplinary experimentation at the intersection of art, perception, the senses, and new technologies. Alexandre Saunier is an artist and doctoral researcher at Concordia University. He is currently working on a PhD exploring live light performance and relationships between humans and machines.
The third instalment in the Spiking Neuron Networks series, SNN #3: Echo State is an immersive audiovisual performance combining video projection, light, and sound. An AI system uses Spiking Neuron Networks and Echo State Machines to react to the two artists, and to the audience, via the light and sound signals it receives. A visual and auditive experience of SNN inspired by the biological neural networks found in the brain.
Chris Salter and Alexandre Saunier combine their artistic and research interests for SNN#3: Echo State, the third instalment in the Spiking Neural Networks series. This immersive audiovisual performance plunges the audience into an intense experience of SNN via video projections, sound, and moving images that reflect and react to stimuli.
